Generally speaking, these all have a dark gray and blue appearance with nice streaks of lighter yellow color. There will not be a massive difference between the different stones in this batch. They are all graded and tested to the same standard.
This is the Moss flower course grit sharpening stone. The grit range is approximately 1000 grit. When textured with a coarse diamond plate the stone sharpens very quickly -  as fast as a 600 grit stone. If you use a finer Nagura or diamond plate then the sharpening abilities are in the 1000  to 2000 grit ballpark. 
This stone generates mud very easily with a lapping plate. The texture and feedback is slightly scratchy and sandy with a faster feel using slurry. Natural stones have an approximate grit range, with lighter pressure or a finer Nagura used to create surface texture It has a smoother feel, and higher polishing ability. 
You can expect this stone to give a very nice toothy working edge. With firm pressure it is fast enough to do minor edge repair, and bevel setting. This stone is perfect for quick sharpening and basic kitchen tasks where you don’t need a highly polished edge, but just want an aggressive toothy finish. This stone also works great for chisels, or the early stages of straight razor sharpening and bevel setting.
The Moss Flower stones also work great for transitioning scratch patterns from synthetic to natural stone and can be placed at the beginning stages of a polishing progression, before going to finishing level sharpening with finer stones like our Ivory Whetstone.
